I can bet my bottom dollar that majority of discord users including me got to know about Discord through cryptocurrency related events.

Which is a no brainer because Discord is blessed with enabling features that enhances cryptocurrency community to build projects, co-ordinate airdrop events, update tasks, track sales, etc.

What is Discord?

Discord was launched in May 13th, 2015. Though a social media, Discord was originally created for game lovers. Providing gamers with a community to experience gaming with family and friends.

Discord made it possible for gamers to keep in touch and carry out hours long correspondence seamlessly.

For an app, that was invented as a gaming home, discord has evolved to a social media space for general use.

With over 250million registered users, Discord is well on its way to becoming the peoples favourite amongst gaming and tech communities.

If we are being honest, putting to consideration the amazing features available on discord and the awesome user interface, no other social media app comes close.

Discord Nitro

Discord is a free app with an 8mb file upload limitation. However there is a paid version called 'Discord Nitro' with a 100mb file upload capacity.

Discord Nitro also offers:

The Nitro plan cost $9.99 per month and $99.99 yearly, per user.

Pros.

Audio call: Apart from supporting the traditional voice/audio call; Discord does offer team audio calling, with %0 lag during calls. Suitable for instant audio collaboration between team members.

Bots: Discord Bot makes it easy for users to sign in directly into a server and get to work immediately, cutting off the hassles of setting up calls.

These bots also offer human like interactions when managing channels and servers as admin for direct projects.

Channels and Servers: Discord channels and servers can be created in seconds, allowing hundreds or even thousands of people as members and active participants [why bother about WhatsApp?].

These severs and channels have customizable permissions you can adjust to allow people into discussions that concern them.

Cons

Limitations: As a free user, discord is limited to 8mb file upload. However, there is a paid version called Discord Nitro with a 100mb file upload capacity.

Absent Features: Discord users complaints of absent features in the android and sometimes IOS version of the app have been going for quite a while now.

Certain features are present in the Desktop version but missing in the mobile version. Though no specific feature was outlined during the time of writing this article, we do hope this delay of feature availability on the Mobile versions of discord is corrected soon.

Additional information

In a bid to make Discord a safe and protected space for every user, Discord in July 2021 acquired Sentropy, a company that specializes in using artificial intelligence to monitor online networks for abusive massages and highlights problematic users and provide recommendations as to how these ill-users can be managed.

In simpler terms, Sentropy tools will be used to prevent harassment of users on discord public servers and channels; Way to go Discord!....

Also in September 2021, Discord partnered with Youtube to test a “Watch together" feature which allows Discord users to watch Youtube videos together...Cool, right?
